World Citizenship Challenge

The following program will assist community organizations and groups in the development of a healthy vision of the World using our materials and constructs that is built around the themes of World Citizenship, Spirituality and Service. Our researched materials deal with an holistic approach to the future by integrating all of what is known by humankind to-day and being open to what may be discovered tomorrow. Using our materials and programs children will be enabled to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. It is fitting that community organizations and groups take up this World Citizenship Challenge (WCC).

We use the language that everything is interconnected, interdependent and inter-related. We must demonstrate this in more than just words by looking deeper at all issues; and World Citizenship is how this will be accomplished.

Our program is open-ended and does not attach itself to any one belief structure, but rather looks at common values that will be true for all. Our planet Earth, HOME is a central theme for materials and ideas. And using homeplanet.org as our internet address, imparts a feeling of oneness to all participants in the WCC. In particular we focus on breathing and the importance of breathing. It is through breathing that we demonstrate moment by moment our connectedness to the earth, the plants, and other animals. As we look at the total human being it is important to also recognize that what we consume and how we move our bodies is as important to our own health as it is to our attitudes and over-all behaviour and we have a responsibility to be healthy.

We have access to knowledge more so to-day than at any time in human history. Because of this qualitative change, we also must learn humility. While it is important that we acknowledge we are all teachers it is more important to note that we are also learners. Which role we are adopting, and when, on a moment by moment basis and to keep these roles in balance is as important as any understanding. It is important to know our rights and understand that for every right that we have there is an inherent responsibility attached to this right. Learning to use all of our senses and remembering that some people learn differently than others is necessary. The use of reason in developing a caring approach for other human beings that inhabit our planet will move us to acknowledge the importance of sharing and to do so, not with guilt, but rather with the understanding that we all receive for the purpose of sharing. This fundamental truth or Prime Directive pervades all that we do. Those of us that have so much must learn to sacrifice a little of what we have in the larger belief that one can be happier knowing that everyone is having their basic needs met. We must reflect on how we can achieve these values and then take action in order to give credibility to our own true selves.

For change to come on our planet, individuals must change and how they do so must incorporate ecological integrity by bringing into the analysis not just economic concerns, but also ethics, energy and health issues. Questioning ourselves on every aspect of our behaviour and determining whether or not our choice works for our individual highest good and whether or not it also serves the health of the planet.

Our Vision includes the culmination of a three year program which we call our 1000 Day Plan. We plan to celebrate our success in raising $100 Billion Dollars for the Children of the World in a celebration at the Great Millennium Complex in Greenwich England in July of the Year 2000. Children from around the world will participate in a World Flag Ceremony and say the words: May Peace Prevail on Earth. The Flag Ceremony will be done with vegetable dyed flags that as the final process of the ceremony comes, all flags will be stirred in hot cauldrons of "spirit" water and the cleansed white flags will come together under the "earth" flag as an image of surrendering to the one. We see a magnificent Peace Pole with attachments from children from all around the world and thousands of boys and girls singing "Imagine". It is a beautiful day with the smell of roses and flowers from around the world and the aroma of exotic foods in the air anticipating a wonderful feast. Artistic presentations of drum and dance acknowledging diverse world cultures will take place over the week-long event. This event will include the Tenth World Peace Congress of the IAEWP, the Seventh Congress of the World Natural Medicine Association, the participation of Native Elders from the First Nations of the World, with other events to be added as we move forward; and the whole program will be presented to the world through the Internet, and television.
