The following formula will work for those that have made a decision that they desire to quit smoking. If you feel the need to smoke, we do not recommend that you stop immediately, for that too would be an unhealthy shock to your system. We suggest that you do three breathing cycles of Breathing Exercise #1 each time you feel the need to smoke. After that, if you still feel the need, take the cigarette, but honour the cigarette as medicine.
We find that people that do this ritual with integrity give up smoking within a predetermined time depending on how long they have been smoking.
John Smith has been smoking for 25 years and is doing two packs a day. First determine time period: 25 divided by 7 = 3 + = round to four.
This means that the base time is four months. Because quantity is two packs, it is necessary to double the time = eight months. John Smith should expect to take eight months to quit his habit. Schedule a rate of decrease per day over the time calculated. Note goals to achieve on calendar.
