Millennium Task Force Communications: Attention Larry Dickenson

Dear sir:

I am writing to bring to your attention our initiative regarding the year 2000. Our website www.homeplanet.org is the focal point for this initiative. I understand from the individual that contacted me that you are canvassing ideas from the community. Note the following:

1) Our International Peace City 2000 project is intended to bring forth ideas as to the best that we can accomplish in each of our cities. This program is left up to each community but focuses on the Mayors offices, encouraging peace education in schools and in particular, the values of world citizenship - not world government. It is believed that the value of a larger perspective is necessary as the world goes through change.

2) We are hosting an event in Greenwich England in July of 2000. At this event we will be performing a Flag Ceremony. (see site: world Citizenship Challenge ) Every country will have at least three individuals representing their country and carrying the flag. We would like your commission to become involved in this program.

In the process between now and the program, we have initiatives starting across Canada that need support. In particular, Michael Dufrane in Nanaimo B.C. through the Intertribal Connection is beginning a series of events worthy of your support. (address available)

3) We also would like to bring to your attention the Peace Coin 2000 initiative that of the American Numismatic Association. Over 20 countries are already participating. We have written letters to various levels of government in an attempt to bring this idea forward in Canada. The response has been varied to date, but the feeling is that the idea is being ignored in Canada. We would like to ask the commission to bring this idea forward.

4) Education: Our educational materials are available to all Canadians and represent leading thinking by educators involved with Common Core Curriculum ideas. We would like the commission to become aware of the availability of these ideas and recommend their application to their own processes.

5) First Nations: We have invited the First Nations to attend our World Flag Ceremony in Greenwich, through White Cloud, Pat Henrickson an Elder from Royston B.C. He has undertaken to invite the Elders from around the World to participate.

As a closing comment, and to make our request digestible, we ask this commission to participate in our World Citizenship Challenge by promoting our site www.homeplanet.org. This is a simple effective way you can support our initiative. We appreciate your consideration.

We also would like to be more involved in your process.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Gold
